With this new feature, TikTok is following in the footsteps of other popular apps like Lensa by bringing a similar experience directly to its platform. This means that users will be able to create their own personalized AI avatars without having to leave the TikTok app.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to add value to the community and enrich the TikTok experience, as we continue to build a safe place that entertains, inspires creativity, and drives culture,” a spokesperson for TikTok told TechCrunch in an email. “In a few select regions, we’re experimenting with a new way to create and share profile pictures with the TikTok community.”
By offering this tool, TikTok is providing users with a fun and engaging way to express themselves creatively. It also has the potential to further enhance the app's already impressive ability to connect users and promote social interactions.
